Chickenpox - Causes

It is mainly caused by varicella zoster virus.It spreads through person-to-person contact or through sneezing and coughing by an infected person.The same virus that causes chickenpox also causes shingles.

If the infected person sneezes or coughs, the droplets of water that comes out from nose and mouth are inhaled by those around them. In rare cases, it spreads when fluid from a chickenpox blister gets on your skin and also from the fluid of shingles blisters. Once exposed; the symptoms may develop in one week to three weeks.
