Appendicitis - Diagnosis

Appendicitis can quickly become a medical emergency. This is why it is important to get diagnosed immediately if you feel you have any symptoms of appendicitis.

In the diagnosis, your doctor may ask your symptoms first and then do a thorough physical examination. Diagnosis can sometimes be tricky as some of the symptoms of appendicitis are same for some other diseases such as kidney stones, urinary tract infection, gastroenteritis, etc. If your doctor suspects something or to rule out any other possible medical conditions, he may suggest some of the following tests.

  • Ultrasound technology
  • Abdominal CT Scans

Blood and urine tests are also done to check for any infections. Appendicitis can affect people of any age. Delaying the diagnosis may lead to severe problems as chances are there that the appendix may burst and cause further infection.
