Arthritis - Diagnosis

In diagnosis, doctor will first check your medical history after which he will go for a physical examination. During the physical examination most doctors will assess the following conditions:

  • Stiffness
  • Tenderness
  • Pain during motion
  • Swelling
  • Pain in the joints

Pain patterns may differ depending on the type of arthritis and the location. If your doctor suspects something abnormal, he may recommend any of the following methods for diagnosis.

  • X-rays
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Blood tests
  • Ultrasound technology

All these tests help to detect problems within your joint that may be cause your symptoms
