Chickenpox - Home Remedies

There are home remedies for chickenpox which can help relieve the symptoms if you do get this disease. They are as follows:

1. Baking Soda:

It is a great home remedy for chicken pox which helps in relieving the irritation of blisters and rash.

Mix half a spoon of baking soda with water and use sponge to wet the red spots then leave it for few hours it will prevent from itching and irritation

Also mix half a cup of baking soda with warm water and take bath with the solution.

2. Honey:

Honey is rich in natural compounds which help in reducing the irritation and itching. Apply pure honey directly to the infected area and on the scabs as it helps in clearing the scars.

3.  Vitamin E:

Apply vitamin E oil to the infected area which helps in fading of the scars.

4. Vitamin D:

It is one of the best ways to treat chickenpox. Sun rays are rich in vitamin D. If you are infected, then you will stay inside until it heals but going out to get some sun rays on you will help in reducing the itching.

5. Margosa or Neem leaves:

Indian lilac or neem has great anti-viral properties. Take some neem leaves and crush them into a paste. Apply this paste on the blisters in order to get relief from the itchiness. It will also dry out the rashes.

6. Brown Vinegar:

It is one of the effective ways of treating chickenpox. It mostly helps in getting rid of irritation and sloughs off the blisters and avoids scarring when used in bathing water while taking bath daily till the infection goes.

7. Carrot and coriander leaves:

Take some quantity (say, 100 g) of carrots and chop them well. Also chop some quantity (say, 50 g) of coriander leaves and boil it with chopped carrots in water for some time. Now, strain and cool it down. Drink this soup once a day. This will effectively heal the chickenpox.

8. Oatmeal Bath:

One of the safest home remedies to treat chickenpox is oatmeal. It mainly helps in soothing the skin, relieving itchiness from blisters and rashes.

Take 2 cups of oatmeal and then crush it into a fine powder. Now, put this powder in 2 litres of water and let it remain for about 15 minutes. Take a cloth bag and put this mixture into it. Place the bag in a bath tub, filled with lukewarm water and shake it properly till the water turns milky. Soak yourself in this water to get an instant relief from the itchiness due to chickenpox.

9. Epsom Salt bath:

Epsom salt contains sulfate and magnesium which can be very useful in reliving chickenpox itch, soothing inflammation and relieving pain.

Fill your tub with warm water then add 3 cups of Epsom salt and leave it for 15 minutes. Then get into the tub gently and have bath. Once you come out wipe the skin gently with towel carefully as to not damage the blistered skin.

10. Calamine lotion:

Applying of calamine lotion to the affected area helps in reducing the itchiness and irritation.
