Hand Foot and Mouth Disease - Overview

Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a viral infection caused by Coxsackievirus which usually comes first in the throat. HFMD is the disease which occurs mostly in children and in some cases can affect adults as well . It is characterized by fever and a blister-like rash causes sores in or on the mouth and on the hands, feet, and sometimes in the legs and buttocks. These sores may be painful and lasts from seven to ten days.
