Thyroid - When to call a doctor

Call the doctor immediately when a person has hypothyroidism and has a sign of myxedema coma.
Untreated hypothyroidism may severely affect the brain and results in inability of the heart to beat effectively. 
Also, untreated hyperthyroidism leads to the thyrotoxicosis crisis called thyroid storm which will affect both the heart and the brain.    

Seek for medical care immediately if you have the below symptoms:

1. Confusion
2. Abdominal pain
3. Coma
4. Shortness of breath
5. Confusion
6. Chest pain
7. Rapid and/or irregular heartbeat
8. Dizziness
9. Pain and high fever with the thyroid enlargement 
10. Having severe pain in thyroid prevent you from swallowing.
