Diarrhea - When to call a doctor


You should call your doctor immediately if you have the following:

  • Mucus or blood in your stool
  • A fever that is high (above 101 F) or that lasts more than 24 hours
  • Diarrhea lasts more than 48 hours
  • Persistent abdominal pain
  • Severe symptoms of dehydration
  • Vomiting blood
  • Dark urine
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Rapid pulse
  • Confusion and disorientation
  • Dry skin
  • Weakness (loss of strength) Weakness (loss of strength)
